Latest Visa Update

Parents of Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen children may be able to migrate to Australia. Visa options are available for parents who are outside or inside Australia at the time an application is lodged. To be granted a visa in the Parent category, generally you must have a child who is settled in Australia and is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible NZ citizen, pass the balance of family test and satisfy certain public interest criteria.

Subclass 804 – onshore PR

Subclass 103 – offshore PR

Subclass 884 (TR) / 864 (PR) – contributory onshore

Subclass 173 (TR) / 143 (PR) – contributory offshore

The Minister for Immigration has introduced legislation, which was passed through Parliament, that has seen the removal of certain family visa classes, which were previously available for application. Effective as of the 2nd June 2014, the affected visas are as follows:

Subclass 804 – onshore PR

Subclass 103 – offshore PR

Note, that any applications for these visas lodged before 2 June 2014, will continue to process.
